
Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC), the premier NAVRATNA Central Public Sector Enterprise under Ministry of Power has joined hands with CIDC to provide job oriented skill development training under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. An MOU was signed on 22nd Feb.2012 to fulfill these objectives.
The main objective of this programme is to impart training/skill development and placement of 500
rural/semi urban youth in construction industry. The candidates are mainly underprivileged and from
economically weaker section of the society. Such trainees have been selected from six states namely
Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Training has
been provided in various construction trades.
The programme is of 3 months duration and weekly performance tests are conducted followed by final
examination. The certification is completed thereafter, and the trainee is given an opportunity to
participate in the placement meets organized every month.
The training is being imparted in CIDC centers located in Faridabad, Ghaziabad, ITI Palwal, Sidhauli & Ramshahpur.
In a short span, this structured training empowers the students with skill sets and knowledge about
specific trades & makes them abreast with recent trends and best practices in construction industry.
This REC-CIDC initiative has multiple benefits for all stakeholders including raising awareness levels about job opportunities available in this sector, socio-economic upliftment of beneficiaries, livelihood generation & creation of dedicated work for nation building.
