Construction Cost Indices (CCI) for the month of May 2003 ; Base January
1998 = 100.00
16th June 2003
Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) has been computing Construction Cost Indices (CCI) for the 4 metros and Hyderabad and Bangalore cities. The indices represent the variations in cost of construction. Variations in construction cost are due to variations in cost of inputs such as materials, labour, tools & plants etc. Further, the inputs have different level of weightage for various sectors wherein construction plays a major role. The Indices are therefore computed for the following sectors: Buildings, Bridges, Dams, Medium Industry, Maintenance, Roads, Mineral Plant, Urban Infrastructure, Power, Railways and Transmission. CCI for May 2003 are given
in Table 2.
Table 1 indicates the average increase in the indices.
The national average increase in cost of construction for the period Dec 2002 – May 2003 is 4.51%. This indicates that the average increase in cost for the period has been 0.90% per month.
The national average increase in cost of construction since the base year till May 2003 is 19.48%
